Wind power plants are getting larger and larger and with it the size of the rotor blades. However, it would not be possible to realize modern plants without fibre-reinforced composites. Glass or carbon fibres in woven textiles do not only increase the efficiency of the plants but also make it easier to move them to areas that are difficult to access, e.g. to offshore farms on the high seas.
Material: carbon fabric, glass fabric, hybrid fabric (glass/copper)
Advantage: no cutting, firm selvedge, hybrid fabric usable for lighting protection
Process: hand lay-up, vacuum infusion, compression method, pultrusion
